AN8499SH IC for Driving Optical Disc Motors
n Overview
The AN8499SH is an IC that incorporates 5-channel full-
PWM drive circuit ideal for optical disc drive applications,
such as CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-RW, and DVD-RAM
drives. Panasonic's newly developed circuit design applied to
this IC ensures smooth spindle motor driving with the
reduction of current consumption and noise generation
n Feature
l Low-noise, three-phase full-wave PWM drive for spindle
motors.
l Low current consumption ensured by the five-channel
direct PWM system.
l High-current D-MOS output with low power dissipation.
l Incorporating a short-brake function to suppress heat
radiation.
l Providing 3x FG output (open-collector type)
l Four power pins can work separately to connect to an
independent power supply each.
l All channels are driven at 5 V or 12 V.
l Incorporating a general-purpose operational amplifier.
l Incorporating a thermal protection circuit.
l Compact, thin power package with 0.5-mm-pitch lead pins
employed.
