Description
The highl y i ntegrated F SBH-series c onsists of an
integrated curr ent-mode Puls e W idth Mod ulator (PW M)
and an av alanche-rugged 700V S enseFET. It is
specifically designed for high-p erformance offlin e
Switched-Mode Po wer Su pplies (SMPS) with minimal
external components.
The integrate d PW M controller featur es includ e a
proprietary green-mode function that provi des off-time
modulation to line arly decrease the s witching frequency
at lig ht-load conditions t o minimiz e sta ndby power
consumption. To avoid aco ustic-noise pr oblems, the
minimum PW M frequenc y i s set above 18kHz. T his
green-mode function e nables the po wer supply to me et
international power conser vation re quirements. The
PWM controller is manufac tured usin g the BiCMOS
process to fu rther red uce power cons umption. T he
FSBH-series turns off some internal circuits to improve
power saving when VFB is lower than 1.6V, which allows
an operating current of only 2.5mA.
The F SBH-series h as bu ilt-in s ynchronized sl ope
compensation to achieve stable p eak-current-mode
control. T he proprietary external li ne co mpensation
ensures co nstant out put p ower lim it over a wide A C
input voltage range, from 90VAC to 264VAC.
The FSBH-series provides many protection functions. In
addition to c ycle-by-cycle cu rrent limitin g, the internal
open-loop pr otection circu it ensur es safety when a n
open-loop or output short occurs. PWM output is
disabled unti l VDD dro ps be low the V TH-OLP, then the
controller starts up agai n. As long as V DD exceeds 28V,
the internal OVP circuit is triggered.
Compared with a discrete MOSF ET and controller or
RCC s witching conv erter s olution, the F SBH-series
reduces comp onent count, design size, and weight;
while incre asing efficienc y, productivit y, and s ystem
reliability. These devices provide a basic platform that is
well s uited for the desi gn of cost-effective fl yback
converters, such as in PC auxiliary power supplies.
